My heart soars when I see video footage of the masses of people who are raising their voices and making their presence known on Wall Street in New York City.
For almost two weeks now, activists and regular folks, union members, airline pilots, celebrities and more have used non-violent resistance to occupy parts of New York City to call for systemic changes in our country’s financial and political systems.

I’m learning to appreciate the curves
…of my body.
The lumps, the bumps, the peaks, valleys
and the rough places too.
This curvy, shapely, not-thin body of mine
is rounded and full of past, present and future.
It speaks of pain, joy, shame, ecstasy, birth and life.
It tells tales of first touches– some rough and painful, others tender and sweet.
It narrates the story of me, up to this point in time.
How can I do anything else but appreciate this body, this me?
I’m learning to appreciate the curves
…of my life.

I think of myself as a pretty positive kind of person. I make it a point to focus on what, to me, is going “right” in a situation.
If the cake I bake falls, I remind myself that it still tastes good. If I have to spend an afternoon with someone who usually annoys me, I try to find something about the visit that I can genuinely appreciate.
(Okay, I’ll admit it. This is an intention and not always the way it plays out.)

As Lou Reed sang, does it ever seem that in order to just get through the days of your life, you need an immense– busload– amount of faith?
Life sometimes knocks us around. We can become worried, afraid and despairing about the conditions of our bodies, our lives and those close to us.
In times like these, just about everyone wants assurance that it’s all going to work out for the best.
Who doesn’t want to believe that everything will be fine?
This sense of hopefulness and wishing it will all work out is where faith comes in.

Have you ever wished that you could take a particularly painful memory from your past and simply erase it?
I have a few (or more) memories that, at times, I would love to be rid of. These are the images, feelings and beliefs related to events in my past that crop up and seem to ruin my whole day, week, month or even years.
Recently, I watched the movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” It tells the story of a man and woman who met, fell in love, argued, made love, argued some more and then broke up.
This is a preview of

Just about every one of us looks in the bathroom mirror every day. Whether it’s checking to see if your hair is sticking out weird or food is in your teeth, you probably check your reflection.
Some of us like what we see staring back at us and others among us cringe.
Did you know that every single person and situation in your life can also be viewed as a big, ever-changing mirror? You can learn and grow in ways you might not have thought possible when you do so.
This is a preview of
Mirror, Mirror…
